Acupuncture for Pelvic Pain in Coburg North

Pelvic pain can really disrupt your quality of life. It can impact work, exercise, sleep, relationships, sex and how you feel in your body.

Whether you have a diagnosis such as endometriosis or adenomyosis, experience painful periods, or are still trying to understand the cause of your pain, you deserve to feel heard and supported.

For the past five years, Lara has worked at Elgin House Women’s Health Specialists alongside gynaecologist Dr Clare Myers caring for people with endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain. It is here that Lara has deepened her experience, knowledge and passion for supporting those living with pelvic pain.

Lara commonly works with people experiencing:

  • Endometriosis-associated pain

  • Adenomyosis-associated pain

  • Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)

  • Ovulation pain (mittelschmerz)

  • Vulvodynia

  • Vaginismus

  • Pelvic pain without a clear diagnosis (yet)

Pelvic pain is complex and can involve the reproductive system, pelvic floor, musculoskeletal system and the way the nervous system processes pain.

Acupuncture may be used as one part of a broader approach to managing pelvic and menstrual pain, alongside your other care support.

Supporting pelvic pain with acupuncture

Your care

Your first appointment gives us time to talk properly about your experience of pain.

Depending on what is relevant to you, we may discuss your menstrual cycle, previous investigations or surgery, bowel and bladder symptoms, sleep, fatigue, stress, movement and any fertility or pregnancy plans.

Treatment is individualised and may include acupuncture, gentle bodywork, cupping, gua sha and practical lifestyle support where appropriate.

Lara takes a trauma-informed, gentle and collaborative approach to care and aims to provide a safe space where you feel heard and understood.

Collaboration

Multidisciplinary care can be an important part of managing persistent pelvic pain. Lara works alongside your existing healthcare team and, where appropriate, may suggest additional referrals to help ensure you are receiving well-rounded care.

Lara has a broad referral network and regularly works alongside GPs, gynaecologists, pelvic floor physiotherapists and other allied health practitioners.
